Can you help give Holy Trinity Church a brighter future? If so, you are invited to come to the church this Saturday, January 19th for an Open Day.
Holy Trinity Church, Milford has been part of the Milford and Makeney
community for over 150 years. However, last summer, faced with a declining congregation and uncertainty over the future of the church, the vicar Nicky Fenton, decided to ‘reach out for help to retain this important local church.’
A group of local residents have put their heads together and come up with ideas for how to retain the church, recognising this will be ‘a mix of church and other community/business uses.’
Some of the ideas include a set-up along the lines of Cromford Creative, a flexible mixed used co-working space at Cromford Mills which provides affordable premises for creative, innovative and technology based businesses. Other suggestions include monthly farmers’ markets, craft fairs, a community café, music nights, informal meeting spaces, clubs for children and our elders, and interpretation boards showing the church’s legacy for local residents and visitors.
If you think there any other uses/ideas that you could suggest or maybe examples of community uses in church buildings you’ve seen that could work in Milford Church, do come along any time between 10am and 4pm this Saturday. There will be music, pop up craft sessions and ideas boards. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
If you”d like to offer a raffle prize, share a skill or can’t make it this Saturday but want to contribute thoughts and ideas or even volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
